Potter Pack November 2015 – The Potter Packs Story

When I started blogging I did so as an outlet for teaching others how to DIY around their place.  I really love the blogging world and have made some of the greatest friends through it.  I have been to several blogging conferences and each one has emphasized the need to sell something (ebook, sponsored posts, stuff I make, advertisement, etc.), basically stop blogging for free and make it a business!!! So with that, a little over a year ago we came up with the idea of sending Potter Packs to women all across the country that would brighten their day with some of our favorite things one pack at a time.  It started out with a blog post and a few blogging friends who posted about our packs and now, one year later, we have sold over 700 packs thanks to you!  This has always been for fun, not necessarily as a business since I blog for fun and we both have other jobs.  We appreciate your business this past year and can’t thank you enough for buying our packs.  We hope that they have brought you as much joy as we have had putting them together for you.  It has also been fun to see customers buying them as gifts for others.  One of our favorite things to do is hand deliver the packs to customers who live close to us so we can put a name with a face and make a new friend.  As a family we drive around and make the deliveries which gives us a fun opportunity to spend time together and always stop for a treat!  Since this is the Potter Packs first anniversary we decided to do a “BIRTHDAY” pack and it is, by far, one of our very favorites!  It is filled with birthday themed items to help you celebrate with us!

We have had a few life changes during the past two years.  We appreciate your kind words and support as we sold our home and moved into an apartment while going through the process of building a new one.  This was a crazy stressful time but we got through it.  The home we sold was fine, however, there were several things we wanted to change to make it more appealing to us.  After getting bids for those changes we found it would be easier to just start over and build a new house just around the corner.  A couple, who are friends of ours, heard that we might be selling and made an offer that we accepted.  We knew right away that that was the best thing for both of our families.  Well, after working with our builder and having plans drawn up, he made some decisions that made it difficult to trust him and we abandoned those plans.  We relied a lot on prayer and were eventually able to find a brand new home being built in another town just a few miles away.  It was almost exactly what we wanted.  We were scared and excited but knew that the struggles that we went through was the Lord’s way of answering our prayers and as we look back we are grateful for these trials.  We love our new place, new neighbors, and new friends as well as we miss our friends from our last neighborhood.  We moved in and are working hard on making it our own.  It has been fun and a new adventure for our family.  The girls started school and have enjoyed it so much.  As I mentioned before, I started blogging just for fun but a few months ago, things changed.  Burk works full time as a social worker and does contract work on the side.  I work at home doing hair, love being a mom {hardest job one can ever do},  blogging {when time allows} and selling Potter Packs.  Burk recently lost some contract work which has made things very tight.  While the Potter Packs don’t make a full time income, it is worth the time spent doing it and teaching our girls how to work.  We decided to make lemonade out of our lemons and Burk is now our shipping department.  The packs have become something to help get us through this tight time until he finds more contract work.  We are so grateful for the tender mercies of the Lord and that we’ve been able to create our Potter Packs enabling us to work together as a family.  We are so grateful for YOU and your support.  Thanks again for buying our Packs.  We hope you LOVE them!
